Reaching a compromise can be a legitimate objective in a negotiation. However, it rarely satisfies either side. In our experience, there is no win-win in difficult negotiations.
A compromise means that you cooperate partly, but not in full. The aim is to come to a halfway house that works for both sides. It is unlikely that either party is really satisfied, but at least there is an agreement, even if it is suboptimal.
Important: there will be no win-win in a difficult negotiation.
